Part 1: AIX Platform
For Application Hosting on an AIX platform, the DTS works with customers to select an appropriate configuration based on the customer's business needs. The following basic components are available for AIX platforms as part of the standard Application Hosting service. Additional processing capabilities are available through the add-on components that are available for this platform.

- Server operating system software
- Server hardware
- Data storage
- One 100 Mbps network connection
- IP addresses (up to three per server)
- Software licensing and vendor contract administration
- Operating system upgrades and maintenance (patches)
- Operating system security administration
- File system creation and maintenance
- System administration including user account and disk management
- Delegation to customer of user access administration
- Anti-virus protection
- Backup and Recovery including off-site storage
- Monitoring and management
- Technology Refresh on a five-year cycle
The performance of a specific application is dependant on many factors, including most that are outside the scope of the system administrators. The systems are initially sized based on project recommendations and refreshed systems are sized based on historical information. Unplanned workload growth can affect the performance of any application. As requested by the customer, DTS will upgrade or replace servers to meet these new workloads.
Server Hardware
When customers choose the Application Hosting service using an AIX platform, procurement, installation, provisioning, and maintenance of server hardware by the DTS are included in the standard service.
When customers choose the Application Hosting service using an AIX platform, IBM pSeries server equipment is included in the standard service. Customers have a choice of four tiers based on cores and memory requirements.

Additional Storage
Additional storage is available for Unix platforms in increments of 1 GB.
Network Hardware
The standard service Application Hosting service using a Unix platform includes one 100 Mbps network connection per server. The network hardware add-on component allows customer to configure servers for enhanced performance by choosing a faster network connection and/or multiple network connections. The available options are:
- 100Mbps network connection
- 1000Mbps network connection
